Makha Shermat was born in 1966 in in Kirghizia. He moved to Moscow in early childhood. He started boxing training already in Kirghizia and continued in Moscow.

He could have avoided army duty because of his sport achievements, but he decided not to.

After the army duty, Makha resumed his boxing career and started working as a bodyguard of Alla Pugacheva. He worked as a bodyguard with other stars of show-business: Igor Talkov, Nikolay Rastorguev, Vladimir Presnyakov Jr.

Nowadays Makha Shermat is coaching and teaching in a school in Moscow, also he gives private boxing classes to individuals with his own training system.
